The next virtual meeting of the Parish Council will take place on Wednesday 1st July 2020.

Councillor Angie Carroll

Having been born in Hampshire and been a village girl most of my life, I love living here.

I attended senior school and college in Trowbridge Wilts. We moved to the village in 1977 with my daughter aged 7. She attended Alexander Hosea when it was still in the old building by the traffic lights, and then KLB school.

I worked in the village Spar during the 1980’s, getting to know many of the villagers who were always so friendly towards me. I have seen many, many changes in the village over the years. I even had a go at learning to ring the bells at Holy Trinity Church. It was great fun, but health problems stopped me. Great fun though.

I have a strong interest in maintaining the vibrancy of the village. I am a keen dog walker, so have probably met quite a few of you when out with my three Jack Russells. I joined the Parish Council as I thought I could help the village and Parish. I want to help retain the rural nature of the locality.

My main interests within the Parish Council are the traffic situation, maintaining the fabric of the village, and walking the Public Rights of Way footpaths around the village to make sure they are accessible for others. I am a trustee of King George V Playing Fields and the play area, which I am keen to make a safe, happy place to be for young and old. Last, but not least, I have a strong interest in the cemetery’s open and closed areas, where I used to cut the grass for a number of years. Now I try to keep the open and closed areas well-maintained.

I feel Wickwar is my home now.
