Progress in May
We are continuing to work with our partner BT Openreach to bring superfast broadband access to some of the more remote parts of South Gloucestershire where it isn’t commercially viable for private companies to provide.
We follow a value for money model to use what money we have to provide access to as many households and businesses as we possibly can, but Central Government funding won’t allow us to deliver access to everyone; connecting up our most rural areas and isolated properties is challenging and expensive, often requiring new infrastructure. This means that some areas and some individual properties will not get fibre as part of this work.
Residents in Little Sodbury and along Horton Hill
Over the last month we’ve connected up Little Sodbury and the areas east of Horton along Horton Hill and surrounding areas. Local residents should check their options via the Openreach website and where appropriate contact their chosen ISP directly. There are useful sources of information to guide you through this process on our website
We’ve also progressed work to bring fibre to a number of other areas. Residents living in the locations listed below should keep checking these updates to find out when superfast broadband will be available to them.
|Broadband structure||Areas served|
|Thornbury V5134||Sawmill Lane, Thornbury|
|Kingswood 67||Area around Hanham Green and along Abbots Road|
|Falfield 13||Gully Lane, Rockhampton|
|Falfield 14||Area around junction of Eastwood Park and the A38 at Whitfield|
|Thornbury 38||Milbury Heath|
|Winterbourne 23||Area around A432 Badminton Road and Ruffer Road, Kendleshire|
We continue to explore options with BT Openreach for delivering broadband to areas around West Codrington. As you will be aware, installing broadband to this location presents especially complex and unforeseen challenges, so we are looking at more complex, costly and time-consuming engineering solutions. We will let you know as soon as we have reached agreement with BT Openreach on the best way forward.
