Police Report – August ’09
Crime has remained relatively low on the patch. However I have received a small number of calls regarding smashed glass and rubbish at the playing fields in Wickwar. This is obviously a worry due to smaller children playing on the equipment provided, if they trip or fall, they could injure themselves.
Police are paying attention to the area, and the council have been informed of the problem re the smashed glass. If you or a family member or going up to the playing fields at any time of day, please consider the manner in which rubbish is being disposed of.
I have come across a number of cars being left with windows down on drives and in various car parks. Can I please ask all residents to be mindful when they do this; this leaves your vehicle very vulnerable to thieves. Don’t be lulled into a false sense of security because it is on your driveway. If you are not with your vehicle either leave the windows open a jar or close completely. It only takes seconds for items to be stolen.
With the summer holidays fast approaching and many families going away, I would ask residents to keep an eye on your neighbour’s properties. If you also want to inform the beat team, we will be happy to pay passing attention and check on your property, as and when we can.
The Rose and Crown pub in Rangeworthy had a break in, in the early hours of Thursday 9th July at approx 2.30am. CSI attended the scene and did find some forensics, however if anyone was passing through the village and saw anything suspicious please contact myself on 0117 945 5979.
