In the Turnpike Gate car park between Tuesday 28th at 15.00 and Wednesday 29th at 07.30, the front windscreen of a vehicle was shattered with an implement. No further damage was caused to the vehicle and there was no attempt to gain entry and no theft, but you are reminded to park securely at all times and not to leave items within that may draw attention to the vehicle.
This has been notified by the Police NhW Liaison Officer. At the Safer Stronger Communities meeting at Rangeworthy last week PCSO Hayley Harrison reported two recent burglaries in Wickwar which had not been notified by the NhW Officer. They appear to be part of a pattern whereby criminals from outside the area target a number of properties in the early evening by seeing no lights on and assuming that the residents have not returned from work. They may then return a week or so later and target other properties.
If you are not at home at that time on weekdays, be careful to ensure that all doors and windows are securely locked, and if possible leave one or two lights on a time switch to come on at dusk.
