Please find attached the newly adopted South Gloucestershire biodiversity action plan. This sets out the local vision for wildlife.
I have also broken the plan down to parish level and have great delight in attaching Wickwar’s biodiversity plan.
The document has maps showing Wickwar’s designated wildlife sites, lists of species and suggested actions. I hope you like it. It’s a live document so feel free to edit it/ change it/ use it for any local projects etc…
The document can be used when commenting on planning applications. Using it will help ensure compliance with the legal duty placed on parishes and all public bodies to have due regard for biodiversity.
As always, I’m interested in wildlife sightings/updates/ issues etc…
Wildlife records are always needed at www.brerc.org.uk which made up your parish list.
SPECIAL OFFER! To help celebrate the wildlife across the parishes and kick start some of the actions suggested within the plan, the biodiversity action group made up of local enthusiasts would like to offer their help in creating some new community orchards (first come first served). The group has lots of expertise and can help you find land, gather ideas and find funding. If your parish already has a community orchard the South Glos Hawk and Owl Trust are offering to put up a little owl box in your orchard (where suitable). Just get in touch.
